Day #96: Fallon to Fallon (47 miles)

I dropped the U-Haul off in Fallon at 10am, and decided to get on my bike for the first time in a couple of days and see whether my legs felt strong.

In the end, I pedaled 25 miles East of Fallon until I was able to take pics of the "Sand Mountain" (above). Then I turned around and rode back to Fallon. I felt strong and pretty fast, despite 100+ degree temperatures in the valleys and some headwind to contend with on the trip back.

Stats: 47 miles, started at 10:30am, ended at 4pm, 5 hours of actual riding:

The western area, mountains, valleys, desert weather etc are good reason to alter/modify the original plan a bit. Unplanned experiences sometimes are better experiences. Good luck on exploring the western territories (on bike, or on foot, or in a U-haul).

The RV idea makes a lot of sense. I'm glad you figured something out for right now. I love the tumbleweed models Disney added in!

Chris, great to hear your legs are feeling strong again - even in that crazy heat! 😄 Sand Mountain looks amazing, and riding 47 miles after a few tough days off the bike is seriously impressive. Alex and I are so glad you’re riding again and feeling good - we’re cheering you on with every mile (from the shade)! By the way, we checked the directions from Fallon to San Francisco - it looks like about 320 miles if you’re heading through Sacramento. You’re getting so close to the coast - we’re so excited for you! 🚴🚴🚴
