It been a while since I had a picture of McDonalds on my blog... they've been few and far between out West... I thought today's ride would be long and pretty flat... whoops, someone threw a whole mountain in the way... Going up the Sardine pass involved climbing 1,600 ft and then descending the same, super fast!
I had the funny thought that the second picture looked like the hill was wearing army camoflage :-)

The bike path that led into Woods Cross, gave a view into people's back yards in many new subdivisions, and it reminded me of Switzerland... just the pride shown by everyone... My hypothesis is that people in Salt Lake City, like in Switzerland, are trying to show that they are better than everyone else...
Stats: 79 miles, started at 7:45am, ended at 7pm, 10 hours of actual riding:

When we need to drive a bit long distance McDonald’s are always our number one choice for breaks. Beautiful photos and videos. The yellowish colors sing autumn songs in middle of summer. The manufacture sites are aways mysterious. The mountains far and near are surreal. Such a nice long ride!
Omg... After everything, those bike paths look heavenly. And the dappled light is really soft. Good thing for the convenience stores, I was wondering how you could manage on sparsely distributed McDonalds!
Chris, only you could turn a surprise mountain and a McDonald’s sighting into such a great day! 😄 We loved the camo-covered hill and your “Swiss theory” - you might be onto something! Alex and I are so impressed by your stamina (and your humor!) as you crank through these long days. Keep the photos and stories coming—we're still pedaling along with you in spirit! 😊 🚴👍
