A long, beautiful ride up the Wind River Canyon, with convenience stores located at the 20 mile and 50 mile marks. Had a great talk with 2 ranchers at the first stop... all about their business and their love of the country and dislike of the city. One of them had kids and grandkids, and we talked about their struggle to accept a gay grandkid. We talked about marriage, divorce, alimony... just a free ranging and honest conversation.
I started out at 6am, since I knew the day would be long...

Stats: 80 miles, started at 6am, ended at 5pm, 10 hours of actual riding:

It was cool to think of it all being underwater
Also that terrain totally gives me the sense of being in another world/ another land
Interesting, it makes me wonder what they find to be shoving gay things in their face. No matter what, I have the feeling that them being able to talk to you openly about everything is probably exactly what we need right now
Although country life is better for people physically and mentally, in city life we have a banana taped on wall auctioned for millions dollars, we have Fitbit counting our steps :-)
What a powerful day, Chris - both on the road and in the heart. The Wind River Canyon sounds gorgeous, and those conversations with the ranchers must have made the miles fly by. Alex and I love reading about the connections you’re making along the way. Here’s to early starts, open roads, and honest conversations that stay with you long after the ride. 🚴♂️
