I should note that yesterday, June 20th at 4:50pm, was the Summer Solstice. This marks the longest day of the year, and the moment that Earth's axis of rotation tips the Northern hemisphere most towards the Sun. It is usually not the hottest day of the year, as the atmosphere takes a while to heat up, and is usually steamiest in August. In the image below we are now at the left-most position in our orbit:

This should be the last day of the current heat wave... surely not our last. I started out early to avoid the worst of it, and there was still some mist in the river valley:
The route alternated between leafy rail trails and urban jungle. Trev joked that Canada has two seasons: Winter and Construction :-)
Second breakfast: a great bagel with lox, at JC's Hot Bagels and a chat with the owner:
Some action shots:
The hugest dandelions along the trail:

Adding an addendum regarding dinner in Brantford... Mark discovered a Halal butcher and they set up a card table and two folding chairs for us, and we got to watch an Afghani TV game show and enjoy delicious chicken curry:
The snapshot: 51 miles, starting at 6:30am and ending at 1pm, with 5 hours of actual riding:

Mark just got in and is in the shower... I'll get his pictures for the last two days once I'm back from grabbing lunch :-)

Hi Dave! Yup, it's me. And yes... navigating by the most important landmarks :) -Nof/Zoë
👀 Hi Zoe! ...was wondering who you were. Your dad is on course and navigating by the bagel shops.
Salute to anyone braving through the heat wave outdoor no matter how rewarding the nature offers :-). Reading you posts just like sitting with you at lunch table, you are the forever teacher, a super good one :-)
Whoa, I like seeing the mist from above. Those onion slices look like the real deal! Cool that all these people you meet along the way make it into the photos -Nof
