This was supposed to be a 61 mile day, but Google maps led us on a trail that turned out to be a dead-end on a broken bridge, so we had to back-track. In the end we rode about 68 miles in total. It was hot and windy and by the end my feet were sore and I was cranky... but a nice shower and a good cheeseburger set everything right :-)
We had gotten good food at Wegmans the day before, so breakfast was healthy Swiss Birchermeusli with chopped strawberries, apples and peaches:

We set off at 6:30am, since we had a long way to go:

Probably the coolest thing we saw was a working aqueduct that allowed the canal to cross over a stream that travelled underneath it...
This is the canal:

And this is the stream flowing underneath!

Lunch was in a beautiful spot:

A few action shots:
The end point was a lovely Bed and Breakfast:

The snapshot: 68 miles, starting at 6:30am and finishing at 5pm, with 8.5 hours of actual riding:

That’s a long ride ! When visiting NYC it’s hard to imagine the nature beauty out there in the state, lakes, the canal, wide open green space…
68 miles!! That's crazy. The bed and breakfast must have looked like the Lakes of the Clouds hut when you're coming from Madison. Fingers crossed for an easier day tomorrow -Nof
