Today started with 1,600 ft of climbing up to an altitude of 8,500 ft. That took about 8 miles and a couple of hours. The rest of the day was 50 miles of mostly descending down to 3,000 ft above sea level... hard to complain about that. Add to that, the views of the Sierra Nevada mountains were so beautiful all day. The climbing was tough, but there was a great National Forest outpost at the top of Carson Pass... and they gave me grapes and cherries that volunteers had donated :-)

The beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains...

The last video reminds me of the approach to Lakes of the Clouds, seeing your destination far in advance. More like the Felicitation Hotel!

It’s just beautiful, the mountains, the blue sky decorated with the clouds, even the noises of cars make all surrounding alive. The water makes desert weather forgotten nightmares. Happy biking!

Chris, what a ride!! 1,600 feet up and then 50 miles of downhill sounds like a fair trade! 😄 The Sierra Nevada views are absolutely stunning!! Thank you for sharing those photos and panoramas.

Alex and I loved the videos too - just a quick note: the slow-motion one (#1) looks great, but it’s a little hard to hear your voice. If it’s easy to fix, we’d love to hear what you’re saying. Also - the Desolation Hotel looks like a wonderful place to stay! You’re getting so close now… we’re cheering for you every mile! 🚴🚴🚴
